Ecotherapy Sessions
Ecotherapy is a therapy method that takes place outdoors – in nature and is based on psychotherapy. This method is starting to become more popular and expanding in the past few years: This expansion is a result of a study that shows that today people experience life at a much faster pace than in the past, a pace that is in exponential growth in western culture.
The study brought to the clear understanding that people experience pain and difficulties as a result of being distant and separated from nature, from a wider circle of life, and from an ancient pulse that resonates on planet earth and in all living things.
In other words, people forget that in every part of our body there is the same DNA that is in our natural surroundings. Personal well-being and planetary well-being are not separate from each other.
What does a private Ecotherapy session look like with Yagil?
Whether we are walking in the forest, visiting a spring, or sitting in the park I consider your relationship to the natural world as an important aspect of the work we do together.
We may work on your connections to nature, people, and feelings as well as working together on exploring and healing relationships.
Together we can focus on: gaining a sense of security, sense of belonging, connection to the body, connection to your family, community, dreams, inner world, connection to plants, animals, ground, water, air, and fire – the natural sources of life that are available for human beings and give us the strength to walk our unique walk on earth.
In Latin, the word Eco means home. Ecotherapy works on the healing of the sense that makes one feel as he/she arrived home. Ecotherapy is an invitation to remember and renew our past, crucial connections, that we forgot.
Participating in a process of ecotherapy can develop a new holistic and ecological wide perspective - that knows we are part of a larger web of life and we depend on our connection to it. Together we can guide the heart to return home.
Group facilitation
When working together as a group we will get to know each other and create a contained and sacred space to allow ourselves to be seen and heard. Together we will explore our connections through talking circles, individual journeys in nature, shamanic journeys, guided imagination, bodywork, vocal release, and creating art.
Also, as a drummer and percussionist, I offer to combine drumming and musical communication in our group work. I offer drumming circles as a practice to listen to each other. This can be blended into our work together or be the main focus of a group or individual. Standard rhythm studies can be an option as well.
Working with Youth
Since the dawn of history, youth are educated to be the leaders of the next generation to come. With the lack of good education today we find that young people are more attached to screens rather than the will to gain practical leadership and social skills that will benefit their lives and their future.
As part of my work, I offer a possibility for teenagers to take responsibility for their own lives, gain communication skills and potentially change disruptive behaviors. The work is very playful and can take place with groups of teenagers or individual teens.
This kind of work might be more active, groups will experience a gradual process of gaining teamwork skills and a sense of community.
Through the process, the teenagers will learn how to start a fire, cook outdoors, participate in talking circles, experience outdoor training (ODT), create art from nature, and more.
I offer optional overnight journeys under the stars as part of a more extended process.
There is also an option to go through this process by working on a farm with animals and/or agriculture.
